That does not replace judgment. Curriculum structure, tone, pacing, and what “done” looks like come from people who know the subject and know how adults learn under pressure. AI is the amplifier. The human touch is the brief.
The person on screen is not a person
The presenter who teaches all 73 lessons is generated, not filmed. They are not Dr Tom James, they are not an actor, and they are not a likeness of anyone connected to the course. We would rather tell you that here than have you work it out three lessons in.
What that presenter says is the part that matters, and it is entirely human. Every script is written by Tom or drawn from the work of the named contributing author for that chapter, and reviewed by a person before anything is rendered. What gets taught, in what order, which claims hold up, which arguments are genuinely unsettled, and whether a chapter is fit to publish — none of that is delegated to a machine.
The reason we do it this way is not cost. This subject moves: treaties get signed, missions succeed or fail, launch costs fall. A synthetic presenter means a lesson can be corrected and re-rendered within days of the facts changing, and the captions, transcript and AI tutor all regenerate from the same corrected script. A filmed course goes stale the moment the studio is packed away, and everyone quietly agrees not to mention it.
